Olive Ridley Sea Turtle
The Olive Ridely Sea turtle (Lepidochelys olivacea) has a body size measuring up to 70cm, with a weight of between 40 and 50 kg. The animals lay around 110 eggs per nest. It main feeding source is that of fish and mollusks, when adult, and algae and small molluscs when youngsters.
In Costa Rica, it can be seen along the Pacific Coast between July and February, triggering massive nesting shows of force known as Arribadas (RNVS seen especially in Ostional and Nancite Beach), in which more than 100 000 females can be observed coming out to lay the eggs during a single night.
