Tortuguero is world renowned
for its turtle nesting and recently it has become
famous for a large variety of bird species,
especially migratory birds. We invite you to
explore a part of this colourful world; it is
truly a feast for the eyes. This will be a unique
experience in one of Costa Rica’s lush,
humid tropical forest; our expert guides in
Ornithology will walk you through the forest
and guide you along the canals to enjoy both
resident and migratory species. Around 330 bird
species has been identified in Tortuguero, we
may see some of the following: Bronzy hermit
hummingbird, Violet wood nymph humming, Green
Ibis, Osprey, Road side Hawk, Common Black Hawk,
Scarlet Macaw, Green Macaw, Great Potoo, King
fishers, Warblers, Peregrine Falcon, Trogons,
Wood Peckers, Chesnut bellied Heron, Great Blue
Heron, Toucans (3 species), Orioles, Puff Birds,
Sandpipers, Oropendolas, Egrets, Purple Gallinule.
