Lirio Lodge is located in Barra Pacuare, on the Central – North Caribbean
Coast of Costa Rica. Although not officially in Tortuguero nor near the
Northern Park entrance and the town, Lirio Lodge is situated in the same
ecosystem and landscapes, with tropical lowland jungles, lush rainforests
and endless canals. The hotel is located on the amazing Madre de Dios Canal,
the main waterway that connects Moin and Limon with Tortguero and Barra
del Colorado. The guests will experience a very similar nature adventure,
like being in Tortuguero, just 30 years ago, without the development
Tortuguero had over the past years.
Lirio Lodge is located at 10 minutes by boat from where Madre de Dios and the Pacuare River meet with the ocean. In front, there is a large and pristine rainforest Preserve. The restaurant is located on the water, so you can enjoy fantastic views while enjoying the hearty breakfasts, or the delicious lunch and dinner. You can have a beer, soda or fruit juice while relaxing at the Hammock Rancho, or enjoy the bond fire by the open air fireplace at night.
The lodge offers Bungalows, which are spacious wooden units that come with two double beds, a comfortable bathroom, porch and either lagoon or garden view decks. The units do not offer air conditioning, but the structure itself provides with a constant natural ocean and jungle breeze.
People can also enjoy kayaking along the lagoon border, or go for some fishing with the locals. The 3 days package includes transport from San Jose or Guapiles, boat transfer from Goshen Dock to the lodge, a boat tour and visit to the beach, small village and a guided visit to the Sea Turtle conservation projects. The next day, a guided rainforest canal boat tour is also included, during which you can encounter exactly the same fauna and flora as you do in Tortuguero. Other optional activities are also available. Please request the list of other activities by sending us an email. Birding, fishing, and guided nature walks are some of the trips you can book on site.

People can book a full package that includes transport from San Jose to the lodge, or from other meeting places, like Guapiles, for those coming from Sarapiqui or Arenal, or Puerto Viejo and Cahuita. In case you have rented a rental car, then you can easily drive to the Goshen Docks, where you can leave the car, you can even park the rental at the small parking lot that is watched by the friendly locals that live there. This service is paid for by the hotel.
