Green Macaws in Tortuguero
The Green Macaws inhabit the forests of Tortuguero National Park, as well as other regions of the Caribbean in Costa Rica. Green Macaws are among the largest species of macaws in the world, especially among the four heaviest species. It is one of the two species of macaws that inhabit Costa Rica, the other being the Red Macaw. They feed on seeds and fruits found in trees and shrubs in the park's forests and wetlands, and are easily recognized by their sound (cries) as well as their slow and steady flight, often flying in pairs.
