1 day tour to Tortuguero National Park
Depart early in the morning from San Jose y van. First, you will cross the Braulio Carrillo National Park, a vast region of unexplored tropical jungles and cloud forests ( Breakfast included ) . After reaching the Caribbean plains, you will be taken by boat through the jungle canals to Tortuguero, where you will go after flora and local fauna, including monkeys, crocodiles, caimans and simply as many animals, plants and trees that you can see. After exploring the tropical network of waterways, you will also visit the town, where you will have a delicious lunch ( Included ): At proximately 2 PM you will return back to San Jose, arriving at approximately 6 PM. The tour is guided.
We leave San Jose behind, en route to Tortuguero and accompanied by our naturalist guide.
After crossing coffee plantations, we continue through the Braulio Carrillo National Park, an endless tropical rainforest and cloud forests with incredible wildlife and beautiful waterfalls that can be seen from the road.
After leaving Braulio Carrillo National Park, we offer a delicious typical Costa Rican breakfast including fresh fruit, coffee, juice, eggs and the popular "Gallo Pinto" or Rice and Beans Tico Style
We now continue the journey through the vast banana plantations. The guide will explain the process of growth and export of this famous tropical fruit.
After arriving at the dock , we start to enjoy the boat ride. We will explore the Caribbean canals that are located within the famous Tortuguero National Park. This park covers 29,000 hectares and it is one of the most important spawning places for the Green Sea Turtle Chelonia Midas. The park's forest and freshwater canals are home to many mammals such as sloths, monkeys, manatees and other wildlife species, including Jaguars, Tapirs and Pumas. There are also abundant birds like toucans, trogons, Aningas and other animals like crocodiles, river turtles and countless colorful butterflies, including the beautiful blue Morpho butterfly . The boat trip offers you a chance to see many of these animals closely.
Time to enjoy a typical lunch that will surely please the most demanding of appetites.
After the typical lunch we will walk through the Tortuguero village where we will learn about the colorful and rich history and customs of the people that live here. Enjoy watching the wide Caribbean Ocean.
Back at the bus, after a return boat ride, we leave at 3.30 pm arriving in San Jose at 6:30 pm
WHAT TO BRING: Poncho, hat, comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes, insect repellent (only for the walk). Do not forget your camera.
